This remodel was all aesthetic…and living across the street from homes on the St. Croix River. The neighborhood had older with homes and was within walking distance to downtown Hudson via a river front walking path or charming city streets. Home along the river side of this street are being demolished and replaced with large homes that take in the river views, so we thought there was some potential for profit while we took advantage of living so close to the action.

We replaced countertops and repaired drywall, updated light fixtures and painted everything inside and out. The oak trim was in great shape, the 6-panel doors were high quality and the oak beam was stunning, so we kept them all as is and updated the look with a clean white paint (BM OC-17 “White Dove”) and focused much of our attention on the exterior.

AFTER

Overgrown shrubs were taken out, decorative rock brought in and a dark blue paint (BM AF-560 “Flint”) dramatically updated the look. We designed a unique wood arbor for the front of the home to give it much needed dimension and painted it to match the trim (Hirshfield’s 0543 “November Storms” is a match to the bronze windows from Andersens, Pella and Marvin.)

BEFORE:

We ran electrical to the garage and sheetrocked, insulated and heated it. It became my home gym for awhile – light a bright! While we loved being downtown, we definitely needed more space, so off to the next project we went!
